It had been two years since our last visit to Evia, and it was a last minute decision to go (as both The Boyfriend and I had forgotten about the May 1st holiday), but it was a perfectly relaxing trip, something we both sorely needed.

We set off on Saturday morning, grabbed some provisions at the supermarket, passed by The Boyfriend's place to pick up the stuff he'd forgotten the night before, then made our way towards Evia. It was a quick and easy trip, stopping for a rather late lunch in Pili, before arriving at the tent to see Dr. Sushi, Armadillo and various friends and family walking up the hill towards a taverna for dinner. So we dropped off our gear and turned back to join them. The weather was hazy, so there wasn't much of a sunset, but we chatted over wine and a sprawling spread of food until late.

Hunger...

The next day The Boyfriend went to get meat and beer for the BBQ that night, while I relaxed on the beach, reading and admiring the view, chatting with a few people and watching the sunset. Then we all gathered around the fireplace, as the meat was grilled, boozes were drunk and the conversation continued until the wee hours. It was such a perfectly relaxed day!

Unfortunately our stay could only be a short one, so the next morning, after another trip to the beach, we grabbed some lunch in Vlachia - the same taverna we'd been at two days before, where it was our table and only one other, was now full to bursting and we had to wait to be seated! After lunch, we went back to the tent to pack up, said our goodbyes to everyone and headed back home.

Greenery

It was barely 48 hours, but it was a truly chilled out time, spent doing nothing beyond chatting with friends, eating good food, lazing on the beach... but really, that's the perfect weekend break, isn't it?
